Jasper National Park

Two weekends ago my girlfriend and I took a little weekend trip to Jasper, Alberta. Jasper is situated in Jasper National Park, which is located in the Canadian Rockies. Jasper was established in 1813 as Jasper House and was a fur trading outpost for the Hudson’s Bay Company on the York Factory Express trade route. Jasper National Park was established in 1907. The town of Jasper saw the arrival of the railway in 1911 with the railway siding being added by the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway (now CN Rail).

On the drive up we stopped numerous times to take photos along Highway 93 North (Icefield Parkway). We also stopped at Athabasca Falls, Sunwapta Falls, and Columbia Icefields.

Our stay in Jasper was fulfilled by Sawridge Inn, which has a day spa, pool, hot tub, and sauna. They went above and beyond to accommodate us and we really appreciated the hospitality.

Kirsty & Amber

I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph these two sisters in the summer as a canvas print present for their parents. I’ve been friends with Kirsty and Amber for nearly three years now. Amber and I have a love for beer, and Kirsty & I have travelled together, gone skiing together, and like to watch TV shows such as Hawaii Five-0 and Criminal Minds. This was a really fun day exploring a beautiful park close to my house, and enjoying the sun.

May 23rd 2016 – Glenmore Ranch Provincial Park

Today I went for a nice 5km walk through Glenmore Ranch Provincial Park with my friend Sara. I can’t believe I’ve not been here before, even though it is so close to home. She was the one who came up with the idea, and I’m glad we went. Originally this weekend we were supposed to go and hike Bourgeau, near Banff, but the weather didn’t cooperate. The weather still didn’t cooperate, but at least this was close to home. The sky was very overcast, and it was raining a fair amount, but it made for some pretty stunning photographs.
